Police Receive Highway Safety Grant

Stop for Pedestrians in CrosswalkThe Melrose Police Department applied for and was awarded a $3000 grant from the Mass. Govenor’s Highway Safety Bureau.  The $3,000 award allowed the Police Department to purchase 4 “Stop for Pedestrians in Crosswalk” signs as well as additional pedestrian traffic safety police details near the schools.  The grant money needed to be utilized within a 6 month window, so the additional police details were executed in the spring and fall during school sessions.
