|TheMelrose to Boston Bike Friday
Check out the First Melrose Bike Friday ride on May 9.The Melrose Pedestrian and Bike Advisory Committee led a bicycle convoy from Melrose to downtown Boston on four Friday mornings this summer. This was a great way to try out a bike commute. Experienced riders also enjoyed having a group of compatriots for their journey. The group left from the corner of Main St and Foster St by the YMCA at 7:00am and arrived at City Hall Plaza in Boston just before 8:00am.People could partner up with an experienced buddy or a group for the ride home. Check out this facebook event page.
Our convoy was one of several that converged on Boston, where we were met with a mini-festival with plenty of free give-aways. 2013 was the first year that the Boston Bike Friday events included a convoy from a community north of the city, and the Melrose Ped/Bike committee was thrilled to build on that success by coordinating it for again in 2014.
