June 11 – 25th annual Bike to the Sea Day

The 25th annual Bike to the Sea Day ride is on Sunday, June 11 at 8:30 a.m.

The Melrose Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee invites Melrosians to meet at 7:50 a.m. (leave promptly at 8:00) at the corner of Main and East Foster for an informal bike convoy to the ride’s start at the Madeline English School, 105 Woodville St. in Everett. There’s a 14-mile roundtrip family ride and a 20-mile ride to Lynn/Nahant beach followed by lunch at the Dockside Restaurant on Centre Street in Malden. Comfortable pace, very family-friendly. There are police escorts for the portions of the ride that are on the road.  Starting the ride in Melrose will add 3 miles to the ride on each end.

The ride starts at 9 a.m. Registration is available online (includes lunch) or participants can register the day of the ride starting at 8:30 a.m.

Some of the trail is unpaved so wider tires are recommended.

Helmets required. Riders 8 and up allowed.  Under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The event is a lot of fun and supports a great cause – to support completion of the community path from Everett through Malden to Nahant Beach.

Go to www.biketothesea.com for cost and registration info.  Bike to the Sea also has a map of the route on their website.
